The office of magistrate is one of public trust and is a critical part of our judicial process. In accordance with Sections 12-14-50 and 51(A), Code of AL 1975, and Rule 181(B)(2), Alabama Rules of Judicial Administration, the municipal court magistrate has the authority to make determinations of probable cause for the initiation of criminal proceedings, set bail and accept guilty pleas for specified minor offenses. Being properly trained to perform these functions is a great benefit to our town and directly affects not only the operation of the municipal court and local criminal justice agencies but the public safety of all residents.
Loxley Municipal Court is a criminal misdemeanor court that handles misdemeanors and traffic offenses that occur within the city limits and police jurisdiction of the Town of Loxley.
